Lifting Fathers with Derek Bell S2 Ep19

Derek Bell joins us today to share some of the wonderful things he is doing for fathers and their children in Tallahassee.  Derek is a software analyst, he’s ex-military, a community advocate, and a father of 4 whose life has been built around fatherhood.  He is the Executive Director of the non-profit Lift1one, which came to fruition as a way for Derek to give back by helping struggling fathers in need facing obstacles of fatherhood.

Derek uses his own transformation from struggling with parenting challenges to becoming a successful parent to help other men become better fathers, resulting in benefits for our families and community.

Apostle Williams serves at Imitators of God Ministries, Colossal Vivacious Church, Inc; together with her husband, Senior Pastor Emmanuel Williams I.  Together they have a son Emmanuel II. 

Though the call of God is apparent in her life, raising a God-fearing educated productive child infused with the word of God and serving her husband is her primary focus.  The Williamses seek to exemplify strong family values, believing the church is only as strong as its families.

Creative Outlets and Reforms with Andrew Miller S2 Ep11

Today, Andrew Miller will speak about his volunteer work in several local prisons.  Since 2019, he has sponsored gavel clubs – special versions of Toastmasters for those who cannot join a traditional Toastmasters Club.  In 2022, he began teaching creative writing at Madison and Jefferson Correctional Institution.

Most of his professional career was spent at the US Army Engineer R&D Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he conducted research on endangered species and habitat restoration.  In addition to volunteering, he restores antique stained-glass windows and writes short stories and essays.  He and his wife have lived in Tallahassee since 2006.
