Episode 25 Celebrating September

September has more to offer than Labor Day.

For those of us who are still working and the rest of you who can only remember your days of employment, the first Monday in September, which is Labor Day is/was a welcomed day to behold.  It’s the first national paid day off after a long spell since Independence Day in July.  Also, by Labor Day, football season for all levels, pros, college, high school and more are in full force.  Bringing with it tailgate parties, fans wearing team jerseys and other apparel representing their team of choice, socializing and most importantly celebrations.

Since the novel Corona virus COVID 19 and social distancing have entered our lives, we’ve had to modify our celebrations.  Luckily, September is loaded with days of observances that we can enjoy with or without others around.  Here are five of them, in chronological order for your consideration, although none are paid days off like Labor Day, one or two may spark your interest.

National Grandparents Day is always celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day.  This year it’s today, September 13th.. The purpose of the day is to honor grandparents, give them an opportunity to show love for their grandchildren and help children become aware of the strength, information, and guidance older people can offer.

9/18 – Bright Pink Lipstick Day is a fundraiser run by The Pink Hope Charity, in Australia, to bring awareness to breast and ovarian cancer.

9/21 – World Gratitude day is about being thankful and showing appreciation.

9/30 – National Women’s Health & Fitness Day focuses on the importance of regular physical activity and health awareness for women.

9/30 – International Podcast day celebrates the power of podcasting.
