- Her grandfather Edward C. Boliver owned and operated the Hedley Informer, in Donley County, Texas.
- Her uncle, David Edward Boliver inherited his father’s newspaper and her mother Pauline Boliver Leggitt Links for references in this episode: spent many years helping David Edward produce the newspaper. Alas, Joan has never published a newspaper.
